This course is intended for HIPAA Officers/Coordinators.
The HIPAA Privacy Rule is a federal standard that safeguards individuals’ health information and other identifying data. This module will discuss general information about the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
Learning Objectives are:
- Explain the key provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the importance of safeguarding protected health information (PHI).
- Describe the Privacy Officer’s duties in ensuring HIPAA compliance, including conducting risk assessments, internal compliance reviews, and overseeing staff training.
- Identify business associates and understand the requirements for Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
- Explain the purpose and content of the Notice of Privacy Practices and ensure proper distribution and acknowledgment by patients.
