This course is intended for HIPAA Officers/Coordinators. 

The HIPAA Privacy Rule is a federal standard that safeguards individuals’ health information and other identifying data. This module will discuss general information about the HIPAA Privacy Rule. 

Learning Objectives are:

  1. Explain the key provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the importance of safeguarding protected health information (PHI).
  2. Describe the Privacy Officer’s duties in ensuring HIPAA compliance, including conducting risk assessments, internal compliance reviews, and overseeing staff training.
  3. Identify business associates and understand the requirements for Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
  4. Explain the purpose and content of the Notice of Privacy Practices and ensure proper distribution and acknowledgment by patients.

IMPORTANT:

As you begin to develop your practice’s HIPAA Program, it is important to remember it must be customized to your practice’s unique needs and site-specific information.
