Course Description

In this audience-driven seminar, the attendees will vote on a list of prepared topics related to management of clinical presentations and risk issues in medicine. The top choices will be covered. The presenter will engage attendees and explore the multiple high-risk features of common clinical presentations that can quickly deteriorate into urgent medical situations. Strategies and tools for recognizing and addressing these situations will be identified. Non-clinical risk management principles impacting the practice of medicine and the associated liability exposures involved in each will also be covered. Closed claims analyses, the current evidence supporting best practices and solid recommendations for risk mitigation will be provided.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify high-risk features of urgent clinical presentations in multiple practice settings.
  2. Recognize non-clinical risk issues and exposures impacting the practice of medicine.
  3. List easily implemented, practical strategies to reduce risk in today’s medical environment.
  4. Implement recent Tennessee policies on collaborative agreements and staff delegation.
